Dunhill cigars were first produced in Cuba for a person named Alfred Dunhill by Cubatabaco. These cigars hit stores in 1984 and they gradually garnered popularity, with George VI and Sir Winston Churchill as the famous people who absolutely loved cigars from Dunhill. In later years, the company saw its popularity soar, which was followed by its ultimate downfall. The reason why Dunhill started moving downhill was because of the fierce competition with another high end label, Davidoff, owned by the same company, Cubatabaco. This created unfavorable conditions for Dunhill. Eventually, Dunhill had to give up the productions altogether and sold its rights to British American Tobacco. This unfortunate downfall resulted in the rareness of original Dunhill cigars, and these cigars are sought after by many cigar connoisseurs to keep as their prized possessions.
