The wrappers can take up to two years to reach their peak flavor, and all the wrapper leaves are placed in large round piles or bulks where they naturally cure. When the heat in the middle of the bulk reaches a specific temperature, it is turned over. This is done a minimum of six times until the Ashton Experts are assured the leaves have reached their 'peak of sweetness '. After this aging os completed, the wrappers are re-selected. Only 15% of the aged wrappers are chosen for Ashton Aged Maduros.
